ttl.space
Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to send and receive files on ttl.space, whatever their eyesight and however they use their device.
Two looks
ttl.space has a standard look and an accessibility mode. In the accessibility mode, the site meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, except for what is listed under “What we cannot make accessible”. Turn it on with the accessibility button at the top of every page (a figure in a circle), or with the second link that appears when you press Tab.
The mode gives you text with a contrast of at least 4.5:1 against its background, underlined links, page headings on a solid dark background, larger buttons and links, a thick focus outline, patterns as well as colours on the system status page, and less motion. You can also make the text larger, with or without the mode.
Left on Automatic, the mode turns itself on when your device asks for more contrast: Increase Contrast on an iPhone, iPad or Mac, or a contrast theme in Windows.
In the standard look, three things fall short of WCAG 2.2 AA: some small grey text, the line under the site’s name on the home page, and links in running text, which are not underlined. The mode puts each of them right.
In both looks
Every page is built to work with a keyboard alone and with a screen reader: a “Skip to content” link, named regions, a label on every control, the state of an upload or download read out when it changes, and its progress every 20 seconds rather than every second, and no keyboard traps. Pages reflow at 320 pixels wide and with wider text spacing, and they follow your device’s setting to reduce motion.
What we cannot make accessible
- The files and notes people send. They are end-to-end encrypted: we never see them, so we cannot check or change them.
- The human check on some forms, Cloudflare Turnstile. Cloudflare provides it; when it cannot tell that you are a person, it asks you to tick a box.
How we checked
We checked every page with axe-core against the WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules and its best practices, in English, Turkish and Arabic, at phone and desktop widths; went through every page and the account’s sections with a keyboard alone; and checked Windows contrast themes, reflow at 320 pixels and wider text spacing.
